My old nemesis Eczema has reappeared on my right hand, so woolly knitting time is very limited. Even the Koigu for my sock pal leaves a scratchy red place between my fingers. So I spent most of my knitting time this week reworking the Rustic Ribs Cardi. I frogged the back and sleeve and reknit them a size larger. I also alternated balls of the Patagonia Nature Cotton to even out the coloring. Even Daddy-O noticed that two of the skeins are dramatically darker than the others. I don't know why I didn't see that in the yarn shop.
When you last saw this fish bowl, it was holding names for the baby blanket drawing. Now it is home to a real live beta fish. C and I snuck him in past Daddy-O a few weeks ago. (Daddy-O feels that betas are a gateway fish that lead to larger aquariums.) His bowl was pretty bleak, so yesterday I added a plant and a snail. Just look at how proud he is!
Now all he needs is a name. Leave a comment if you have a suggestion. The best name left by midnight Friday, June 15 will win a woolly sock yarn prize. Have fun... and remember kids, this is a family blog
15 Comments are "sew" fun!:
Thanks for your comment on my blog!
I'd go for "Captain Jack Sparrow" for the fish ;-)
I'd call him Alpha...
"CJ" for the Strawn family!!
I'd call him "Beta Carotene" - after all, he's orange.
Or maybe "Garfield." A lot of people name their cats that, but I don't think it's nearly as common for fish.
I vote for Mars because he is a red fighting fish (Mars is the red planet, also the Greek got of war).
My six year old says you should name him Mr. Eight. (She named her own beta Mr. Ten) I would name him something like Citrine. Very cute fish!
I think a good name for your fish would be Cayenne. Because he is red and a peppery name seems appropriate for a fighting fish.
I wouldn't call him Jack Sparrow, because the last betta I named that commited suicide. . . .
Umm red eh?
Badger (Univ. Wisconsin)
Aries
Buckeye
Faux
Phoenix
Rouge
Hector
Chili Pepper (hahaha)
Mardis Gras
Goya
Xavier
Beowulf
Grendel
Atomic
Rhett ooops, Red Butler or maybe Mars. We had a red/black one and named him Marky da Sod for Marquis de Sade...
have you tried "glove in a bottle" for your hands? It's supposed to be grease-less, I've seen it in knitting stores so maybe it would help?!
Name wise, why not see what it's personality is like. If it's agressive/likes to fight call it Lion or Beast or something wild. If it's timid (but it doesn't look that way0 call it some thing sweeter.
I would say name him Jackie Chan.Or Chow Yung Fat.
How about "Greenie"?
I know, I have a strange sense of humor...
How about Sushi?
Looks like a "Poppy" to me....
Jennifer, thanks for commenting on my blog!!!
Hmm....for the fishy...I guess Bubbles is too much of a given huh??
How about Esmerelda the Ethereal....such a little fish needs a rather large name I think....Ethereal as in Light, airy, extremely delicate, celestial!
Or....if that is too much to sattle a little fish with you could just call him Red Fish!! LOL!!
